Transporter Room first look….

More leaks from Discovery, first looks at the new transporter room….

STAR TREK: DISCOVERY

Above we see Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and Captain Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh) preparing to beam down to … somewhere.

You’ll notice they’re wearing body armor (another interesting addition) and have old school The Original Series phasers at the ready. In the foreground on the left is the back of Lt. Saru (Doug Jones) a new form of alien in the Trek universe who plays a key role.

This particular transporter bay is aboard the U.S.S. Shenzhou and it’s unlike any that Trek fans have ever seen before. So if you love this new design, great, it’s in the show. If you don’t, hold that thought, because the transporter bay in the U.S.S. Discovery is very different from this one (and has not yet been seen).

We have two close ups here, one shows ‘Combat uniform’ and the second shows the new gun…

First look of Captain Gabriel Lorca

Here it is, finally some news about the new starship U.S.S. Discovery…

We have the first picture of the Captain Gabriel Lorca on the Captain’s chair.

STAR TREK: DISCOVERY

A steely Federation Starship Captain who’s considered a brilliant military tactician. The photo also gives the first hint of the bridge of the U.S.S. Discovery, which has not been revealed yet…. Captain Gabriel Lorca is played by Lucius Malfoy from Harry Potter.

We finally have a release date

The show is finally coming to Netflix in September, and will be shown in two halves..

Starting from Monday, September 25 on Netflix and Sunday, September 24 on CBS before moving to CBS All Access.

Interestingly, the first season will be split into two halves. According to showrunners Aaron Harberts and Gretchen J. Berg, the decision to split the opening season in half was purely a practical one.

“You can’t cut corners or have 95% of what’s on screen be completely original and inspired and then have five percent something you bought at a store,” Berg told Entertainment Weekly. “It has to be cohesive — and it is. I’m so proud of what’s on screen, it’s so beautiful and it’s taking world-building to a whole new level.”

For instance: The bridge of the U.S.S. Discovery. Trek fans think they already know what it looks like from the trailer. But that’s not it — the trailer shows the bridge of the U.S.S. Shenzhou — an entirely different  (and older) ship than the Discovery that the production also had to build. The actual Discovery bridge has yet to be revealed…

The first eight episodes will run on Netflix from September 25 to November 6, with the second chapter to be shown from January 2018.

And is that the new Discovery ship in the poster, it does look cool…

Harry Mudd to appear in more than one episode…

It was reported that Rainn Wilson’s Harry Mudd was already in Toronto filming with the rest of the crew. .

rainnwilson

But it turns out he’ll be making more than one appearance; according to the July issue of the official Star Trek Magazine, Wilson will be in “multiple” episodes of the first season.

Having Mudd return is familiar territory for Trek. Harcourt Fenton Mudd, played by veteran character actor Roger C. Carmel, was one of the few characters to recur on the original series

The lovable rogue first appeared in the sixth episode of the first season (“Mudd’s Women”) and showed up again in the particularly wacky eighth episode of the second (“I, Mudd”). He then popped up in the animated Star Trek (“Mudd’s Passion”).

Lets hope he comes back in Series 2 if Discovery gets a good reception.

CBS release new Discovery trailer

After months and months of waiting, CBS finally released the first trailer for Star Trek: Discovery yesterday and one aspect stood out above all the rest, the Klingon’s new look.

One other interesting aspect about the ancient group of Klingons that should be acknowledged is how religious they were. In the trailer, it seems like the Klingons have gathered together for a religious ceremony.

Georgiou is the captain of the Starship U.S.S Shenzhou. Is that the Shenzou we see coming through the clouds? Georgiou tells Burnham “It’s hard to imagine you’ve served under me for seven years,” as they trek across a desert planet.

USS Shenzhou

I think these two clips are from the first two episodes of Discovery, where the U.S.S Shenzhou finds a mysterious object floating in space. Inside this ship they discovery a race of Klingons which has been asleep for a long time only to be awakened when Burnham boards the ship.

We also get some shots of the inside of the U.S.S Shenzhou and her crew.

These new starfleet uniforms look great and the U.S.S Shenzhou looks very big from inside, also the bridge looks like its on the bottom of the ship which is very unusual.

Sarek also makes appearance in the video clip, and has some words of wisdom for Burnham

“Great unifies are few and far between, but they do come. Often such leaders will need a profound cause for their followers to rally around,”

If Sarek and Burnham are BFFs, this presents some interesting questions about her character…  Was Burnham raised on Vulcan? Because that what it looks like from the trailer and that is… pretty awesome.

We also get to see the new communicator which Starfleet use and looks very much like a flip phone.

comunicator
I have watched these two clips several times and i must admit I am looking forward to Discovery when it finally comes out.

CBS have also added three more episodes to Discovery, it was originally going to have 12 episodes but this has now been changed to 15.

First Discovery picture hits the internet

Here it is…

Ready for a look at Star Trek: Discovery? Here’s the first photo of stars Michelle Yeoh as Captain Philippa Georgiou and Sonequa Martin-Green as First Officer Michael Burnham.

firstdiscoverypicture

The image has the duo beamed down to an as-yet-unrevealed planet. We can say for the first time that the eagerly anticipated CBS All Access series is not only filming at a studio in Toronto but also shot scenes like this one in Jordan.

There are a couple of details for fans in this shot as well: Burnham has what looks like an old-school flip communicator on her belt (Discovery is a prequel to the 1966 original series) as well as what could be a tricorder hanging below her left hip — seems appropriate for a First Officer (Spock often carried a tricorder on missions supporting Captain Kirk in TOS).

I’m sure we will see more soon!
