Breaking News — Award-nominated actor Rainn Wilson has joined the cast of Discovery as Harry Mudd.
Mudd, the charismatic conman and intergalactic criminal first introduced on Star Trek: The Original Series, is back!
Wilson is best known for his role as Dwight Schrute on The Office. His other television, film and stage credits include Galaxy Quest, House of 1000 Corpses, Six Feet Under, Juno, Titus Andronicus and the Broadway production of The Tempest (with Patrick Stewart). Interesting Twitter coming from Aaron Harberts Executive Producer of Star Trek: Discovery this morning….
Do we have a Klingon King in Discovery, was he in hibernation on this Klingon ship… or was it a figure of speech?
Neville Page from Face Off has joined Discovery as Creature and Concept Designer. Neville has worked on Star Trek (2009), Prometheus (2012) and Avatar (2009).
There’s a chance the USS Discovery will be a Franklin-ship when Captain Lorca takes command of the Starfleet vessel, possibly solving the ever-growing mystery of two captains and crews on Discovery.
The USS Shenzhou and the USS Discovery are actually the same ship, the idea is that the Shenzhou would appear in the first episode but undergo some unknown, major duress, leaving it unfit for flight. The ship would be repaired and renamed the Discovery after the aforementioned mysterious duress, and the title of Captain would shift from Michelle Yeoh’s Captain Georgiou to Jason Isaacs’s Captain Lorca.
But then the question becomes: What happens to the crew of the Shenzhou? It’s a hell of a way to go if they all die in the first episode of the highly anticipated series. And that seems doubtful, considering how big of a deal the casting announcements of Shenzhou crew members have been.
Of course this is just another rumour but the story line does sound very dramatic.

Heard reports earlier that Captain Archer might be in Discovery. Scott Bakula is on the same network filming CBS – NCIS: New Orleans.. which is really good.
So could he have a cameo in the first episode of Discovery, we will have to wait and see.
NX01 – Enterprise
Couple of days ago, semi-official Discovery Twitter account @StarTrekDog – supposedly operated by writer/producer Nick Meyer’s dog Stella – tweeted the following:
That tweet has since been deleted (screenshot above from one of our quick-acting readers) – and the account has never been an official news release outlet for CBS – but it may be another hint as to where on the calendar the studio is targeting for Discovery to leave spacedock.
We have more casting news coming from CBS…
Jason Isaacs (The OA, Hotel Mumbai, Harry Potter) has joined Discovery and will play Captain Lorca of the USS Discovery following in the footsteps of fellow brit Patrick Stewart, while Mary Wiseman (Baskets) will be joining the cast as Cadet Tilly, a Starfleet Academy Cadet in her final year of study, also assigned to the USS Discovery.
